About

Haley Adams is a research scientist who leverages insights from human perception and behavior to improve the design of near-eye displays.

With over a decade of experience conducting research in virtual and augmented reality, Adams brings a wealth of knowledge to her work. At Google, she leverages her expertise to inform hardware and software design. Her endeavors include: developing prototypes to illustrate device capabilities and limitations, designing experiments to evaluate input performance, and conducting literature reviews to instruct engineering efforts.

Adams earned a PhD in Computer Science from Vanderbilt University. Her dissertation challenged the traditional assumption that photorealistic graphics were requisite for accurate spatial perception in MR displays. Further, the findings of her investigations provided evidence that non-photorealistic graphics may be useful for improving spatial perception in both normally sighted and visually impaired users.

On holiday, Haley enjoys reading, making costumes, drawing with graphite, and surfing. She is also learning to ride a unicyle, because balance is important.
